David Stoddart - Documentary

David grew up in Oban, a beautiful coastal town on the Western shores of Scotland. A keen filmmaker from a young age, he was selected as one of the first Trailblazers, a nationwide scheme that recognises key emerging talents in British film. His graduation film from the Bournemouth Institute, ‘Waiting for Exit Music’ went on to premier at the Edinburgh International Film Festival and the Tribecca Film Festival in New York. In that time a short film he wrote, ‘Rock Bottom Riser’ went on to win an award at the LA Expo Film Festival.

David entered the commercials world with great success. His film 'Mankind', which focuses on the lack of support for men experiencing female violence, won silver and bronze British Arrows, a D&AD pencil and achieved over 20 million views on YouTube and Facebook alone. His following films for Lynx, ‘Boys Don’t Cry’ and British Gas, ‘Two Sides of the Story’ were also highly acclaimed.

In addition to his commercials success, David was commissioned by BBC Scotland to make a documentary about his sister Susie Wolff in her bid to become the first female F1 driver to race since 1974. It was broadcast on BBC 2 and won him 'Best Sports Documentary' at the Inaugural RTS (Royal Television Society) Scotland awards.
